Day Fourteen

Jambo!!!

Today was very emotional. We were overwhelmed as we completed the painting at Sagail and it felt great. We painted the walls and the doors and even the teachers at Sagail started to help us paint . Apart from the painting, playing with the children was also fun and we took them out to play some games whilst we finished off the work.

After that we headed to Mtwapa Academy. We had biryiani for lunch which was really nice and then we were treated to a special performance of entertainment which was amazing. Everyone received special gifts from the school and individual students and Moses, we were all overwhelmed by how much they had come to accept us. Some of us shed few a tears, others managed to keep it inside, it was very emotional for everyone involved as this was the end at Mtwapa after 2 spectacular weeks which none of us will ever forget!

It is near the end now , we fly back tomorrow , and are ready to pack tonight, none of us will ever forget this trip , it has been a life changing experience which will live long in our memories!

Hi all, can't believe we are back and it is all over (so sad!!!) Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support and especially for their messages on the blog that kept our spirits up and made us feel totally supported throughout the trip.

Thanks to the parents for their faith in us as a team, it was a huge trip and without your support and trust it would not have been possible. There will be a reunion, and chances to exchange photos and stories etc, keep checking your emails for details.

Thank you to the staff who accompanied us on the trip, who were fantastic and who, along with the students, became my 'Kenyan Family'. You are all amazing i couldn't have done it without you.

But total respect to those who deserve it the most, the thirteen students who were exemplary ambassadors for Brockington and also of British youth. From start to finish they were outstanding in every way! They have my up most respect and i hope that this experience will stand them in good stead for very successful futures. I hope that this is not the end of the road for us as a team! But if it is we will always have our memories!!!

Take care all, and have a great summer - whatever you are doing!

  29. Hi, I needed a blog fix so here I am! Thank you again to everyone-we are hearing some lovely heartwarming (and some less so!) stories of your trip and we are looking forward to the reunion already.
On a very positve note, Jack's trainers were deposited into a skip before we got home-Mr Green I now know why you bailed out in London-you had had 8 hours next to those feet-we couldn't even make it home. Thankfuly now, Jack, his feet and teeth have been duly disinfected.
Could we have a clothes amnesty when we reunite?sadly we have nothing to offer as very little made it back, apart of course, from a full 2litre bottle of Fanta-just what we were expecting by way of a souvenir! most notably, Jack seems to have mislaid a navy blue trouser leg-(yes that's right just one) so if anyone has it we have its partner!
We do hope this blog caries on for a bit, if for no other reason than to hopefully reassure ourselves that other teenagers pose equally trying problems for their parents!
Have a lovely rest of summer
    Helen x

  30. Afternoon. Well we're another family missing the blogs! I must admit that Jack T has done very well and returned with most of his clothes, albeit they're now undergoing a second machine wash and I suspect a third will be necessary. We've just finished looking at his 700 odd photos (most of which are quite good) and listened to some stories. He's now reconciled with his Playstation.
Its been an emotional return and Jack admitted that he had had the most unforgettable trip ever. When asked about his favourite part, he answered, without hesitation - helping at the school, as he felt it had made such a difference. Again, thanks to those who made this all possible - we hope other students get the opportunity in future and would welcome the opportunity to help with any necessary fund raising. This whole adventure has been truly inspirational.
Enjoy the hols Sam, Mark & Jack T.

  31. It's the sad mother again... a mystery has been solved. On further questioning, I have discovered that Jack gave away all his brand new socks on Day 1-he thought that's why I bought them! and so was left with 2 pair for the rest of the trip. He wore those daily. The travel wash has come back unopened. That might explain something!

    Great news about the trainers!

  34. Hi everyone:)
The last two weeks have been awesomly awesome and i have really enjoyed every moment of it. Its amazing to thing that in just two weeks we have done so much. Its been an physically and emotionally exhausting trip but i wish i was still there doing all the work. Thank you to moses, amina, and everybody else in kenya who we have raised money to visit, you have been brill. Can I say sorry to mr green and the other guy sitting next to me on the plane for knocking you both out with the stench from my feet. I would like to thank that random baboon on safari for making us all roll on the floor laughing after stealing ann's biscuits, and proceeded to torment her by munching on them where she couldnt do anything about it. Finally, a massive thankyou to all of us here for putting massive time and effort to make the whole experience a success, and everybodys endless humor:). Im looking forward to 2012;).

I am just going to echo what has been posted above really. Well done everyone!
