Day Fourteen

Jambo!!!

Today was very emotional. We were overwhelmed as we completed the painting at Sagail and it felt great. We painted the walls and the doors and even the teachers at Sagail started to help us paint . Apart from the painting, playing with the children was also fun and we took them out to play some games whilst we finished off the work.

After that we headed to Mtwapa Academy. We had biryiani for lunch which was really nice and then we were treated to a special performance of entertainment which was amazing. Everyone received special gifts from the school and individual students and Moses, we were all overwhelmed by how much they had come to accept us. Some of us shed few a tears, others managed to keep it inside, it was very emotional for everyone involved as this was the end at Mtwapa after 2 spectacular weeks which none of us will ever forget!

It is near the end now , we fly back tomorrow , and are ready to pack tonight, none of us will ever forget this trip , it has been a life changing experience which will live long in our memories!

Day Thirteen

Mrs True got mugged by a baboon!
It stole her biscuits. She cried out. We all laughed. The Baboon ate biscuits.

Today was the last day of the Safari. After a tired start at 5:30 we got going in our vans out to the Taita Hills Game Reserve to see the animals. It started with some Giraffes running, then some Buffalo's at a watering hole. Our drivers then drove us up to Lion Rock, a lion hang out for the kings of the jungle. After an all clear, we hopped out the vans and had a wander around taking photos and singing the 'Lion King' songs. The incredible views were astonishing to see and it touched everybody. We then left and drove around the planes, spotting more amazing animals like Antelopes, Giraffes and Jackels.

Hungry, we went back to the hotel to have breakfast. At the hotel, there is a watering hole, which is constantly surrounded by many different types of animals. This morning, we spotted some zebra's, antelope's elephants and ostriches. Then the funny moment of the day happened (see above). We then left the reserve and headed to the Maasai village, where we were welcomed with some traditional Maasai dancing. We had a tour of the village, and tried a hand at creating some FIRE! Afterwards, we returned to the hotel all tired out, so hung round by the pool for some chillax (sorry Wubba!).

Day Twelve

Hello all.

Today is the second day of safari and yet again it has been awesome. After an early start, we all got going at 7am to go and see the animals. The first spot of the day was a pride of lions who were literally five metre's away, which was absolutely phenomenal! After that spiffing start we were chauffeured around the game reserve to see some exhilarating animals, for example tremendous elephants, elaborate giraffes, jolly buffalo, beautiful impala's and loads of exotic birds.

We then arrived at a local craft shop/cafe for a quick stop; some of us bought gifts for the family whilst some stocked up on snacks and drinks for the next upcoming journey. Next, we arrived at Taita Hills Game Reserve/Hotel and stopped for a slightly extended break of 4 hours. We had lunch and had a chance to relax by or in the pool before setting off for our second safari of the day at 4 o'clock until half six which was fascinating as there were loads of species of animals. Daniel is the best driver out of them all, he is a legend. Its so different to see them in their natural habitat instead of in a cage its fantastic and the views were amazing the vast space of plains and hills. The birds, especially the rollers, were beautiful birds I thought. As we were driving along a Black Mamba snake crossed our path and scuttled into the undergrowth.

Day Eleven

It was amazing, the day started at 5:00am. NOT GOOD. We rushed up to breakfast all willing to be up at that time! LOL jk, everyone was very tired and could hardly eat their food properly. After we had finished we took hired safari mini buses to the safari hotel. We went straight into the animal business and were soon spotting animals! We saw on the way to the hotel elephants, gazelles, antelopes and monkeys. we got to the hotel and had a drink went to the rooms its a really nice, big hotel with very friendly staff. After that we went down to dinner and went straight back into safari. We then saw Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Baboons, Jackals, Warthogs, Antelopes, Zebras, Gazelles and some pretty coloured birds that we cannot remember the name of. :-)

Near the end of it we saw a herd of elephants of all ages cross the road just in front of us. It was indescribable and unimaginable. We finished the safari at 6:50 but the time we were meant to be finished was 6:00 :O. Thats because we waited for the awesome elephants to cross :D.
BY THE WAY, there was a FROG in the BOG called bogfrog so yeah, k BYE :)!
